Melbourne's not an obvious cheap city, but here's our guide to cheap and interesting activities in this incredible city! Introducing 10 activities under $10...

1. An audio tour!

Complete with audio commentary the City Circle Tram is a convenient way to see the sights of central Melbourne. The tram cart runs 12 minutes apart (10:00 to 18:00) and did we mention it's zilch to hitch a ride, absolutely free!

2. Explore local markets!

Queen Vic Market is Melbourne’s own London Borough Markets; a sprawling mix of produce vendors, food carts, live music, designer clothing and everything in between! Sweet tooth? A tenner should more than cover half-a dozen jam donuts at American Doughnut Kitchen, incredible!

3. People watch at Fed Square!

Federation Square on corner of Swanston & Flinders Street is the centre for Melbourne’s city life. A multi-purpose space crowds gather to watch big sporting events, free live music it's also a great place to relax and meet friends!

4. Chill out at the park!

Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne open from 07:30 till late is the perfect inner city escape. More than 100,000 varieties of plants can be found, along with the occasional cheeky wildlife!

5. Go swimming!

South of Melbourne and easy access of public transport (under a tenner!) is the iconic beaches of St Kilda (pictured below), Brighton and Phillip Bay.

6. Stuff your face with pizza!

At the Lucky Coq $4 pizza runs throughout the entire week  and were not talking a slice we’re talking a full size authentic Italian just like mama made. Yep, your definitely lucky too with those savings!  

7. Join a walking tour!

I’m Free Melbourne the name of this tour company says it all free walking tours of central Melbourne. No reservations necessary just turn up (10:30 & 14:30 in front of State Library) for this free informative 2-3 hours exploration of Melbourne, winning!

8. Test your pub trivia!

On Sunday night The Local Taphouse hosts their famous pub trivia. Entry to the pub is free and the tenner should more than cover the first drink, the only decision left to make is the team name! 

9. Have a laugh!

At The Public Bar $5 gets entry into this comedy club & live music venue. Settle in with $6 pint for an entertaining evening, events are updated daily on their website. 

10. Take in a film!

An stunning architectural space is the Astor Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne. Wednesday's cinema ticket prices are slashed to $11, pocket change really!
